NEW SINGLE PRESS RELEASE
The Advocators Announce their New Single ‘Another Me’
Another Me, set for release 7/08/2026 is the fourth and final single off their upcoming sophomore album ‘Beyond the Palisade’, due for release on the 20th of August 2026. Known for their raw and gritty blend of alt-country noir and swamp rock, The Advocators deliver a hypnotically twisted new single, "Another Me" on August 7. ‘Another Me’ is a lesson in contrast, matching dark carnival sounds and lush Western/crooner swing with morbidly desperate lyrics and an upbeat, danceable, and irresistible soundscape.
The Song
"Another Me" takes the listener on a jarring and joyous journey, exploring the desperate tension of wanting to fade away amidst life's chaos, yet finding the "stupidity" to carry on. The chorus shifts into a cabaret-style confession, proudly admitting ‘there’s a problem in my head’, while the verses offer a plea for human connection, begging a lover to "hug and kiss and love and share". It speaks to an age-old struggle between our irrepressible will to live and the haunting inner critic that whispers "another me thinks me better dead." It is a theatrical juxtaposition of despair and showmanship.
In the Artist’s Words
“Another Me" is a song about navigating the line between cowardice and nihilism, with the clarity and acceptance that all roads lead to sorrow eventually, but hey, at least it’s all put to a jaunty little ditty!
The Avocators recorded ‘Another Me’ in Whangarei with producer Dan Stenhouse at CreativeLab Studio and talented New Zealand musicians Ben Michelson (drums), Dan Stenhouse (bass), and Austyn Mills (honky tonk piano). These musicians will join The Advocators on their upcoming album release tour (with dates set for late August and early September).
The Advocators are carving themselves a unique place in New Zealand’s musical landscape with previous releases having garnered tens of thousands of streams, praise from publications such as Rolling Stone Australia, 13th Floor, NZ Musician, Happy Mag, Under the Radar, and radio play across New Zealand and Australian student stations.
