NEW SINGLE PRESS RELEASE
The Advocators Announce their New Single ‘Draw Me Near’
Draw Me Near, set for release 17/07/2026 is the third single off their upcoming sophomore album ‘Beyond the Palisade’, due for release in August 2026. Known for their raw and gritty blend of alt-country noir and swamp rock, The Advocators deliver a heartbreaking song that speaks of quiet hope amid a sea of resentment and troubled romantic relations.
The Song
Draw Me Near is dark and brooding from the outset with sparse acoustic guitar (Mark Bruce), haunting viola (Dave Kahn), and a stunning vocal performance by singer Leroy Brown. The music sets the scene for a desperate late-night conversation between lovers who long for intimacy but who cannot let go of their pride. This is a song that highlights our own faults and ineptitudes, embraces them, and hopes there is still space for love.
In the Artist’s Words
“Draw Me Near" is a song about being stuck in a worn-out, petulant relationship, knowing that you could make it easier and smooth things over if you just compromised and accepted less, but you have rolled over every time before…
The Avocators recorded ‘Draw Me Near’ in Whangarei with producer Dan Stenhouse at CreativeLab Studio and talented New Zealand musicians Ben Michelson (drums), Dan Stenhouse (cello and programming), Dave Khan (viola), and Hannah Jane (backing vocals). These musicians will join The Advocators on their upcoming album release tour (with dates set for late August and early September).
The Advocators are carving themselves a unique place in New Zealand’s musical landscape with previous releases having garnered tens of thousands of streams, praise from publications such as Rolling Stone Australia, 13th Floor, NZ Musician, Happy Mag, Under the Radar, and radio play across New Zealand and Australian student stations.
